What a healthy sound to hear coming from a person no matter what the age as long as that they no how to turn it "OFF" correctly.  Once in awhile you will have 1 or 2 students who will try your patience and continue on with obnoxious laughter after the fact.    You do need that break in the day when the students can relax and have fun within the academic day. I do provide many fun experiences through regular academic learning throughout the day, also.  Learning can be made to be fun.

YOU    ARE    UNIQUE  ! ! ! !
Oh, how LUCKY you are to have your "UNIQUENESS".  I admire you and you should admire yourself.  Give yourself a SMILE in the mirror at least once a day and make it a great one.   If you want to wear blue when everyone else is wearing black gooo for it.  Make YOUR imprint on this world and make it one you can be PROUD of.

Like a fine tuned instrument seeing students unified in a classroom not caring if they are seated by someone with different colored skin or nationality.  It is so beautiful to see and I look around as they sit down at groups and no one hesitates as they take a seat or takes there place in line.  So I ask myself if I can see this in my 2nd grade classroom WHY can't I see this everywhere????  I want to bottle it, sell it, and have it smother the whole world in HARMONY FOREVER.  The beauty is precious and priceless and I get to appreciate it in my Teaching moments but it needs to be appreciated by everyone ALL OF THE TIME.

The perfect time to point out to your students that everyone is created equally and treated equally.  "Do unto others as you would want them to do towards you."  Violence and hatred are not excepted in our society.  We must all learn to listen to each other and be willing to make compromises so that everyone can get along peacefully.

Students being able to express themselves through ART.  I find that when I tell my students that we are going to have ART so many of them get so excited.  Many of those excited students are the ones that find it so hard to do some of the other subjects though thrive in the area of ART.  They are able to express themselves in this area so well, that for me, I feel it allows them the freedom of relaxation.  It gives them the opportunity in a more open platform which has this nice huge piece of paper to work with that makes them feel alive.  They don't have to fit the pencil in between those little two lines.  They have bigger spaces for the crayons and paints to fill in so they like that better.  I love to see their pictures as well as everyone's pictures, expressions of who they are.

First day back get right back into the routine.  Do make them feel VERY WELCOME.   A nice little note on each desk is a thoughtful gesture something like, "hope you enjoyed your vacation",  "happy to see you today."   Don't give them the full amount of work for the routine because they have been in play mode for two weeks.  They need to be weaned back into it for two to three days then they will be good to go.  Let them discuss their vacation amongst their classmates towards the end of the day that way you don't have the excitement attached to it first thing in the morning.

How cold is it depends where you are, but it is a lot colder then it usually is this time of year.  Bundling up even in sunny Florida.    Nothing like the temperatures up north, and I do feel very sorry for you because I am from the north.  A nice time to treat your class to hot chocolate with marshmallows and warm up a bit.  Plus who doesn't love a treat from their Teacher.
