B E L I E V E
Teach your students to think POSITIVELY everyday.  Even to start each day with having a student(s) tell one positive thing that happened to them the previous day.  Perhaps writing a positive quote or thought on the board each day and using it as a handwriting assignment.  Also, asking the students what the quote and/or thought means to them.  Making positive comments throughout the day always speaking from that side so as not to pick on the negative.  The dynamics and the spirit of the class will pick up on that and hopefully the students will start talking and acting in the same manner.

M I S T A K E S
Mistakes EVERYONE makes them that is why erasers were invented.  We learn and grow from our mistakes.  Some of us are sooo afraid to make a mistake that we make ourselves so nervous before a test.  Others are so confident that they know the material and they would never make a mistake. Then there are some that mistakes just don't matter to them, they have made so many that what are some more going to matter.  They have basically given up on mistakes.  I can remember, from my older son, the first time he made a mistake in 5th grade and he was devastated.  Being a Teacher and a Mom I explained to him there is nothing wrong with that you will read the question twice next time and you learned a valuable lesson from the mistake.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
If you put your mind to it you can strive to be anything you want to be.  You have to have the certain skills and belief in yourself that you will be able to master everything needed to accomplish what is needed for the occupation you want to choose.  That you will be able to work with the people and in the environment that your occupation requires you to do so.  The same goes for when you are working together in the classroom or as part of a team in a sport that you might be playing.  You must always be willing to play your part as best as you can.

SUCCESSFUL  LEARNERS
When you observe your classroom and you see which of your students stand out as your high achievers you will notice that they are curious, confident, self-motivated, determined, good at problem solving skills, and have leadership skills.  Even above all of those special skills the other students in the class usually recognize these students and look up to them for role models.  They are great to use as helpers especially when you have students who are having difficulty with understanding something.

PLAYGROUND PLAY
Hurting other children's feelings on the playground happens all of the time.  Johnny walks over to the basketball game and wants to play but immediately is told NO.  A reason is not given BUT perhaps if one was given like in five minutes you can play and take the place of one of us and we will rotate every five minutes. Or Lucy wants to play jump rope with some of the girls but one of the girls playing jump rope had a fight with her in the morning and DOESN'T want her playing so she speaks for the whole group and says NO.  One of the girls should have spoken up and told her that is wrong.  In these "2" incidents the Teacher needs to address each one individually and resolve them with each group of students that were in the situation and role play the correct actions to take so that next time when something like this occurs they will no the correct action to take.  Students' feelings do not need to be hurt needlessly like this on the playground it hurts their self-esteem and also affects their work when they return to their classroom.

STANDERIZED  TESTING
It is that time in the school year when Teachers are giving our students their standardized tests for the year to see if they are ready to advance to the next grade level.  Some Teachers are very casual about the tests and go over simple test taking procedures and review the skills the students had a harder time with during the school year.  Other Teachers have packets that they use daily with their students, and each day they emphasis how important it is that each student do their best on the test.  Some just keep drilling this into the students minds and end up making some students over-anxious about the test.  That is NOT something that you would ever want to do to any student, because that student will NOT be able to perform well on the test.  You want your students to know the information but also to feel comfortable when taking the test.

HAPPY    EASTER   PEEPS !!!
Just hopping along and wishing you a grand happiest of Easters.  Hope you got your share of those Easter eggs while you were hunting and looking during your Easter Egg Hunt.  If that little buddy or relative of yours didn't quite get enough as you you -- might be a nice gent or lady and share maybe one or two and you might have a new friend for the rest of the day or two.  Anyhow have great fun and don't overeat those chocolate eggs because they can sure make that stomach of yours begin to ache pretty bad.  Take it from this experienced bunny he has been around for quite a few Easters and he has been at all sorts of Easter parties.
